Now, I don't read anything like those old Marvel comics (ahem, graphic novels), but I have a fond spot for the Japanese mangas (graphic novels).
Some of my personal favorites: Alice 19th by Yuu Watase (first manga series I ever read) Vampire Knight by Matsuri Hino (my current obsession) Kamichama Karin (and it's sequel series, KCK Chu) by Koge-Donbo Hot Gimmick by Aihara Miki Loveless by Kouga Yun Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya
Does anyone else on this forum read manga? If you don't read them, I'm an otaku (basically means fangirl for manga and anime), so I can answer most questions about them and convert you to the dark side. ;D *evil laugh* If you do read them, what are some of your personal favorites?
Fun Fact: Traditional manga is read right-to-left rather than left-to-right. This always freaks people out, especially when they're watching you read and you flip the pages in the "wrong" direction. It's an incentive to read them around other people in my opinion.

I love the series where it's the guy that has to be a girl to be able to become an actor instead of taking over the family dojo. He's in love with this girl that looks like a guy
Oh, and Vampire KNIGHT!!!! ;D

He's in love with this girl that looks like a guy Oh, and Vampire KNIGHT!!!! ;D About 80% of the manga I've read have some instance where someone they thought was a girl/guy really wasn't. ;D I think it's some kind of fad in Japan. Do you remember the name, or the author? By the way, Vampire Knight is the BEST (at least, right now). Chapter 52 just came out last night online. A really good site for reading it is www.onemanga.com They have about a thousand different manga scanlations. Are you a Zero fan, or a Kaname fan?

Uh-oh. We may not get along so well. You see, I'm a Kaname fan... Ah, it's okayy...... Kaname just isn't my type.... That's all..... ;D I was afraid for a moment. When I first started reading the series, I really thought Kaname was going to be the more popular of the two (and I was happy for it; I usually root for the underdog and am disappointed when they don't get the girl). Then when I started looking around the online fandom... it was like everyone was a Zero fan. Not only that, they were demented about bashing all the Kaname fans... This fandom is one of the strangest I'm a part of. I'm happy to hear you won't bash me. ;D Oh, and I started reading W Juliet a few days ago, the manga I was pretty sure you were talking about before. I'm 15 chapters through it and I'm officially addicted.

Does "Hellsing" count?
Also, I will confess I am falling in love with Graphic Novels/Comic Books. This can also be due to the fact that my boyfriend is a huge graphic novel/comic book fan and he is attempting to convert me to their ways. But, Sandman by Neil Gaiman is just epic beyond anything - take my word for it.

I've wanted to read more things by Neil Gaiman since I read Stardust last year. My library like to plot against me, though, so his books are always checked out when I look for them.
And of course Hellsing counts. If it's got pictures it counts. Though, technically, "manga" only includes those published in Japan.
Interesting facts: "Manga" is, of course, graphic novels published in Japan. "Manhua" is the term used for graphic novel published in China. "Manhwa" is the term used for graphic novels published in Korea. The most accepted term for American graphic novels is "comics". ;D

I love the series!!!!
