What do you think of Bella as a mom? I thought that she loved her daughter very much and she did everything possible to give birth to her.

I thought she was very devoted. She knew from the start that she was going to protect the baby with everything she had, even at the risk of her dying. However, I didn't like how she let Rosalie care for the Renesmee so much. I mean, Bella must have been grateful for Rosalie's help, but take care of your own child please?! Where's the motherly instincts?

I feel that she did want to keep the baby but she had nothing to do with her. I thought that was very disappointing. You would think that she would pay more attention to her daughter and actually spend time raising her and being with her since her relationship with her mother doesn't seem that way. She was always looking out for her mother and her mother's happiness.

I agree. I thought Bella was a great parent up until she had actually given birth to her daughter. Then it seemed a bit like Stephenie Meyer had Bella thinking 'Oh, I'm a vampire now! So this child is no longer important to the plot movement in my story, lets ignore her exsistance in my life; Rosalie!'. ...Needless to say I was very disappointed with Bella's parenting skills as a vampire.

Even Edward didn't show much interest. Not to mention he didn't want her to keep Reneesme in the first place. I don't know....I guess it showed us their selfishness towards eachother. Almost like they didn't want to share eachother with anyone...including their own daughter!

Well I feel like Meyer wanted to show Rosalies motherly instinct as well...because through out the books you see Rosalie as this cold hearted .... and now you get to see that she's not that bad at all. Besides, you could tell that Bella really cared for her daughter, and how much she loved her, but at the same time she was experiencing this life changing event of becoming a vampire, not to mention most people get to have 9 months to prepare to become a mother, and she didnt even get to get through her first year of marriage before all this happened...It was just an overwhelming experience.

Even though Rosalie was able to show a more maternal side, she was still a bit cold hearted and vain, considering the fact that she WANTED that baby, even at the expense of Bella's life. Apparently, what ever Rosalie wants, she has to get. :-(

It wasn't that she wanted Bella to die, she just understood Bella's wants. She like Leah, both would give up anything, including their own lives to have children. She was just helping Bella do what she would have done if their roles were reversed. And yes she loved and adored the baby, but I do think she understood the boundary lines of the fact that Renesme was Bella's daughter and not her own. I would have thought Rosalie might have been jealous over the fact that Renesme would never want to sit in her lap when Bella was around, but instead she laughed and earnestly thought it was cute. Which is where I say that she showed her softer less vain side.

That's more important, and oh yeah, sex! Get rid of Renesmee so we can get it on!!! It kinda made me lose respect for Edward...... Don't know bout you guys.....

I mostly agree, but keep in mind, they're still practically in their honeymoon. I think I would have enjoyed a couple more pages of quality family-time between Edward, Bella, and Renesmee, myself. I wanted more Renesmee time altogether. I felt like we never really got to know her, we only got to see the reactions everyone had to her birth. What is Renesmee even like? That's why I'm hoping for a Renesmee-narrated book in the future. Stephenie Meyer did say she may, sometime in the far future, write another book for the series (can't remember where, but I remember thinking Renesmee would be good for it).

Yeah well as long as it doesn't have Bella and Edward ignoring Renesmee that's fine with me....
