For those of you that said the occurrence of rape in Patty Briggs' book surprised you, I'd like to point out that it was the first time rape had factored into one of her books, and it certainly wasn't the last time. In her book Steal the Dragon, the main character goes what I believe to be a much more traumatic rape, in which she was in no way forced other than through her social status. And in that book, the rapist doesn't actually get what he deserved. (There was also the implication that that was in no way the first time something like that had happened.) What made that so shocking to me was her reaction to it, or lack thereof. She basically blew it off as nothing. I find that much more disturbing than the actual rape. And then there was Cry Wolf, which was published after Iron Kissed, in which anyone who's read it realizes there were multiple, highly traumatizing incidences of the main character's rape. Rape is not an uncommon theme in Patricia Briggs' books. And, essentially, all books are about death and the human fascination with it, and to experience something so horrible is to have a taste of death. Rape is not something that is necessarily immoral to have in a book, it is the portrayal of the rape, of which Patricia Briggs handled gracefully.

Oh I didn't know that. I haven't read Steal the Dragon yet. I actually haven't found it yet to read it, but that is another story.
I also didn't think about Anna's (anna?) perdiciment in the Chicago pack. GOOD CATCH! That one completly slipped my mind.

I've read all Brigg's Books except "Masques and Mercy's Homecoming". I agree to Amante dei Libri saying "Rape is not an uncommon theme in Patricia Briggs' books", *nod*.
But I didn't like Steal the Dragon much, actually I jumped some pages just to get through with it. What I like best is her " When demon Walks"...I've read it three times in the week I've read it. I've been longing to see the next book for it...still hoping though *g*.
Dragon Bones and Dragon Blood are really good too. The main character here is Ward of Hurog! I love this series too, only two books though.
