I've read the first two books in this series, and if I had stopped when I felt the urge to in the first one, this book would be on my list of Books-to-Never-Recommend-EVER. But I figured I would keep on reading, and to my surprise it got... good. Not just good, but kind of awesome. At the beginning, it's one big stereotype after the next--the Goth girl wants to be a vampire, big surprise. The main character seemed to me to be a whiny Goth girl who wants danger in her life, but doesn't want to actually be in danger. However, this major problem is somehow over-ridden by the humor that emerges in the book. Mild-mild-spoiler When she stole that jerk's pants, I was rolling on my bed, cracking up for hours. And when she put his clothes on his locker, I somehow laughed harder. And suddenly, I found it easy to laugh at the stereotype rather than interpret it as bad writing. It got hilarious. So, while the beginning is a little rough, by the time you get to the middle, the book is so worth it. Three stars for humor (it would be four if the writing style was a little less simplistic).
