Ruined: A Ghost Story by Paula Morris
Synopsis:
Rebecca couldn't feel more out of place in New Orleans, where she comes to spend the year while her dad is traveling. She's staying in a creepy old house with her aunt. And at the snooty prep school, the filthy-rich girls treat Rebecca like she's invisible. Only gorgeous, unavailable Anton Grey seems to give Rebecca the time of day, but she wonders if he's got a hidden agenda. Then one night, in Lafayette Cemetery, Rebecca makes a friend. Sweet, mysterious Lisette is eager to talk to Rebecca, and to show her the nooks and crannies of the city. There's just one catch: Lisette is a ghost. A ghost with a deep, dark secret, and a serious score to settle. As Rebecca learns more from her ghost friend -- and as she slowly learns to trust Anton Grey -- she also uncovers startling truths about her own history. Will Rebecca be able to right the wrongs of the past, or has everything been ruined beyond repair?

This was a really good book. The detail of NOLA(New Orleans) was great and it made me feel like I was back there!! Rebecca being part of the Bowman clan was a bit of a suprise, tho I should have seen it coming. Anton was a not what I thought he would be. He was stuck in that rut that is family and love. Being an old family in nola is a big deal.
Marianne was sly in asking her to take part on the float. You know that dress could have been ajusted, there were tappered down tho the float anyway. I really liked Lisette, i was happy and sad that she did pass on. I did like it at the end when Lisette name was placed on the Bowman crypt. And that Rebecca and Anton was there with flowers.
4 stars for this book

I liked this book, it was good. Got me hooked with all the secrets. I could feel Rebecca's frustrations. I can say though that I did see Rebecca being a Bowman coming. As soon as she saw that ghost I knew something was up. I do wish that her father told her a little something before she got there instead of sending her there blindly. Of course she was going to go in the cemetary. What kid doesn't do what they are told not to? As for Anton, I just couldn't trust him till the end. And I knew Marianne was a fake. That was a give-in. But I liked all the detail and the frustrating secrets, lol. I loved Lissette and was happy when she finally moved on, when her name was finally put on the tomb and when her house was getting fixed. I thought that was nice touch. I guess you never know what secrets families have!

I thought this was a very interesting book. It was a little slow at first but it did picked up and I didn't stop reading until I was finished it. As soon as her picture went missing from her wallet I knew the father didn't want anyone to recognize either him or her mother. And Brown was close to Bowman so I figured out she was related to them. And I never trusted Anton either.Although he didn't really tell her secret,I just thought throughout the book he was setting her up.I'm glad he redeemed himself in the end. I thought the story really picked up at the point she told Anton..it started to become a page turner.
A really well told story. If you like a mysterious ghost story this is a good book.

It wasn't bad a little slow but over good I fugured something was up when rebecca's famliy photo disappered and then her meeting Lisette, which I was thinking she was there to help her some how not that she was a Bowman herself till about the middle. I thought it was intresting that Lisette figured out who recbecca was before she herself was told and yet she told her all about the curse and was really a friend to her and helped her end the cusre that was on them. As for Anton i figured he would was using recbecca and would betrayed her and than i thought the only reasons he was trying to help was he had a guilt consciene about it.And i cant believe he set the Bowman's house on fire.
