A friend of mine in the lit/publishing industry told me that graphic novels are all the rage right now. Have you ever read a graphic novel? If your favorite author had written your favorite book in graphic novel form rather than written word form, would you have read it?

I have read a couple of graphic novels, and enjoyed them. Yes, if one of my authors does do one, I do try to get it to read it. I however do prefer to read a ... real book? novel? than a graphic novel.
hope that helps.

I have read some, and I enjoy them very much. I think that they bring a new audience to authors. My cousins only read Mangas, so when they borrowed my copy of Dark-Hunter the were very surprised. They said to me "This is the from the same lady that writes you vampire books?" lol.... I think more authors should give graphic novels a try... I very proudly own: Mercy Thompson Homecoming 1, 2, 3 & 4 (Comics by Patricia Briggs) Dark Hunger (Manga by Christine Feehan) Dark-Hunter Vol. 1 (Manga by Sherrilyn Kenyon)

I own two Justice League graphic novels. I spoke with my local librarian and she told me that the demand increases every year. Even her friends that are librarians in elementary schools tell her the same thing. In fact, William Shakespear can now be found in GN form. It's the most efficient way to promote literature (even Shakespear) to teenagers.

I read hundreds of Asian graphic novels (Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese) interested in trying out some western (American, European, etc) ones though too. Will probably start with Watchmen which I keep hearing about.

It was an amazing class. We limited our view to American post-WWII comics. The best part of the class was that it was very historically driven, so we talked a lot about the Comics Code Authority and the rise of the underground comic, which was fascinating. Also, it was a lot about exposure to influential graphic novels and artists/writers. We ended up reading many graphic novels that I had heard of, but never read, so it was a great experience and the professor obviously loved the topic.

It always helps when the professor is enthusiastic about what they teaches. Enthusiastic teachers=enthusiastic students.
