C.E. Murphy writes mostly Fantasy and Urban Fantasy, some of her most well known series are 'The Walker Papers' featuring Joanna Walker, a police mechanic and full-time Shaman; and 'The Negotiator Trilogy' featuring Margrit Knight the lawyer / peace keeper for the supernatural races. Both are fantastic reads, and I highly recommend them!
Blurb from 'Urban Shaman' the first book in the 'The Walker Papers' series:
"Joanne Walker has three days to learn to use her shamanic powers and save the world from the unleashed Wild Hunt.
No worries. No pressure. Never mind the lack of sleep, the perplexing new talent for healing herself from fatal wounds, or the cryptic, talking coyote who appears in her dreams.
And if all that's not bad enough, in the three years Joanne's been a cop, she's never seen a dead body—but she's just come across her second in three days.
It's been a bitch of a week.
And it isn't over yet."
Blurb from 'Heart of Stone' the first book in the 'Negotiator Trilogy':
"Okay, so jogging through Central Park after midnight wasn't a bright idea. But Margrit Knight never thought she'd encounter a dark new world filled with magical beings -- not to mention a dying woman and a mysterious stranger with blood on his hands. Her logical, lawyer instincts told her it couldn't all be real -- but she could hardly deny what she'd seen... and touched.
The mystery man, Alban, was a gargoyle. One of the fabled Old Races who had hidden their existence for centuries. Now he was a murder suspect, and he needed Margrit's help to take the heat off him and find the real killer.
As they worked together to figure out who was framing Alban, Margrit discovered that this man with a heart -- and body -- of stone made her feel more alive than ever, And as the dead pile up, it's a race against the sunrise to clear Alban's name and keep them both alive."
