I liked the book. I live near Savannah, and it is always interesting to read about places that I go. I was driving through Thunderbolt, and thought "Oh Luce's family lived here". I agree that the book was a little slow to start and left a lot of questions. I will read the second book. I agree that its interesting when you read about places that you go. Girl in the Arena takes place in Cambridge, MA and she mentioned Worcester which is where I live and I was like "Whoa, I live there," lol.

I agree with spari - the book really was a bit slow. I also was hoping to see the cool angel fighting scene.. A little more backstory or flashbacks would have added a bit more to the plot as well. I hate that you don't find out towards the end what really is going on. Not one of the best books I've read lately, but I'll probably read on in the series to see if it progresses.

you know...it was like that for Hush, Hush. I wonder why all the new books about fallen angels leaves us like this... Covet was the same way. You have to remember that they are the first books in a series, and they are building a foundation. They don't want to tell you right up front that it is about fallen angels. you have to figure that out. And that's what happened in Hush, Hush , Fallen , and Covet. If you were given a Hardcover of Hush, Hush and it didn't have the jacket with the picuture of the guy with wings, would your first guess be "Oh this is about fallen angels?" how about with Fallen? even the cover doesn't give away that it's about fallen angels, I had one friend that had never heard of the book ask me if it was "another one of those vampire books?" . Because we know the books, and we have done research on them, and been waiting for them we know they are about fallen angels, and now we want the meat of the story, not this beinging stuff that we THINK we already have figured out. So I think that with all 3 books the authors did a good job in laying down a foundation for the world to build on. I liked Hush, Hush, but have already forgotten some main points with it. I liked Covet, more than Hush, Hush, but then again I'm not a YA anymore. But out of the 3 I think that Fallen was the best. It gave you a soild foundation, and left you with questions, and enough of a glimpse at the answer that you can try to make your own assumptions and figure it out.

I liked the book, I'd give it 4 books. I am actually looking forward to the next one mainly to see what will happen next. I am not sure that I like how they seem to be pulling her in 2 different directions. Its feels like they think she can't be trusted to figure out the answers herself if they actually explain whats going on. I am sick of books using the girl as a pawn as if shes TSTL on her own and therefore must be coddled and handled with kid gloves( I think thats the saying)

Anyone read 'Torment', yet? I liked the new characters that where brought in Shebly and Miles the whole Nephilim school was pretty neat I would have loved to see more with that but alas Luce was only there 18 days then the big show down at Thanksgiving. I missed all the charcter from the first book and the whole Luce & Daniel thing kind-of got on my nerves I thought she should just go be with Miles. The whole end was blah I thought with the whole we will go help find Luce at the end was cheesey

I read Torment and liked it a lot better than Fallen. I also liked all the new Nephilim. I can't help shake this feeling though that Luce isn't human. She has to be more, right. I really like Miles. Daniel is just too much. And expects too much. I think part of the reason for Luce disappearing at the end like she did was because she was confused about Miles and Daniel and about her past. I'm really excited for Book 3 to come out!
