Katie MacAlister writes amazing laugh-out-loud romantic paranormal, contemporary, historical, mysteries, and young adult books. She even has a Steampunk Romance coming out in February of 2010. She writes under two other names, Katie Maxwell for her young adult, and Kate Marsh for her mysteries.
Her main adult series are the 'Dark Ones' which starts with 'A Girl's Guide To Vampires':
"On a visit to the Czech Republic, Joy Randall (a skeptic of all things paranormal), is suddenly thrown into the dark, dangerous world where vampires known as Dark Ones stalk the night. Armed with nothing more than a wicked sense of humor and a bag of rune stones, Joy does her best to untangle the threads involving a serial killer, vampires (both real and pretend), and the handsome, mysterious man who may or may not be what he appears."
The 'Aisling Grey, Guardian' series which starts with 'You Slay Me':
"Aisling Grey is a courier enjoying a free, work-related trip to Paris when she learns she's a Guardian. That's a keeper of the Gates of Hell, for those who don't know. She finds this out from Drake Vireo, who's scrumptiously sexy-at least in his human form. Now Drake has stolen the package Aisling was sent to deliver, and she must track him down, get the package, and try to resist the passion boiling inside her. "
The 'Silver Dragon' series which takes place after the 'Aisling Grey' series, and starts with the book 'Playing with Fire':
"Gabriel Tauhou, the leader of the silver dragons, can't take his eyes off May Northcott. Not even when May, who has the unique talent of being able to hide in the shadows, has slipped from everyone else's sight.
May, however, has little time for Gabriel - not when she's hiding from the Otherworld law, hunting down a blackmailer, and trying to avoid a demon lord's demands. But her ability to withstand Gabriel's fire marks her as his mate, and he has no intention of letting her disappear into the darkness she seems to prefer.
Then May is ordered to steal one of Gabriel's treasures - an immensely important relic of all dragonkin - and he must decide which to protect: his love or his dragons..."
Her young adult 'Dark Ones' books are absolutely amazing! There are two in the series, with a continuation of them coming out in 2010, but the continuation will be as an adult paranormal, not as a young adult book. The series starts with 'Got Fangs?' and continues with 'Circus of the Darned'.
"All sixteen-year-old Francesca Getti wants to do is have a normal life where she's one of the crowd, blending in so no one will know just how much of a freak she is. Dragged to Europe by her mother to join GothFaire, a travelling band of psychics, magicians, and assorted other oddities, Fran has to cope with not only the normal angst of always being a fish out of water, but also with her own fate as a psychometrist.
Enter one Moravian Dark One (referred to by most people as vampires) named Benedikt who claims Fran is the key to redeeming his soul, a mysterious horse who seems to have an involved past, an immortal friend who remembers what Mozart was like, and a demonologist who thinks he's Elvis, and you can understand why Fran despairs of ever fitting in."
Her other young adult series is the 'Emily' series, which has five books in the series, which starts with the book 'The Year My Life Went Down The Loo':
"When 16-year-old Emily's family uproots her from Seattle to England right before her junior year, she has to adjust to a whole new lingo, new friends, and worst of all, no malls. Luckily hunkalicious British boys do exist!"
Most of her adult contemporaries, and historicals are stand-alone, and are all fantastic books! Katie MacAlister is a very fun author and has an awesome website with lots of goodies for her readers.
