I thought their relationship was weird. I would have been happier if Jacob found someone more compatible with his age instead of being a playmate for now.
What do you guys think?

I think Meyer tried to make everyone happy. And without introducing a new unrelated character, she had him jump for Reneesme. It is a bit strange though.

As long as it wasn't Leah, I was worried for a bit that it might have been.

Leah did show a softer side there though so I think I would have prefered him with Leah than Reneesme but then again it probably wouldn't have worked out that way either

I just don't like the whole imprinting with children! It's too weird that they imprint and just wait for them to grow up(Jacob's friend Quil did the same thing with the 3yr old Claire)

I wonder how does caring for them as child transcend into caring for them when their older. How does loving them affectionately as a child turn to full on hornfest when they reach the proper age?

well think of it as a life long best friend, generally (in fiction) childhood best friends end up dating/falling in love as they get older because they know eachohter so well, been through hard times ect. It's a comfort kind of thing.

Hmm, I kinda see what you mean by that. But why do they imprint babies though? I mean, wouldn't it have been better to imprint on them during the teenage years or something along the lines of that?

They imprint when they first see them! I don't think they can help imprinting with their soul mate even if it was when they were a baby. Still think its weird but that's how it is.

Jacob loved bella, so I think he imprinted on Reneesme to protect her. I think they have a special bond. I was hoping Jacob would have hooked up with Leah and moved on past Bella

I was hoping for the same thing! However, I think that's why Jacob stayed around as long as he did because there was a bond to Bella that he couldn't let go of and now we all know why. Im just happy that Jacob found some happiness even if its with someone we weren't expecting

Oh yeah, I don't get that either. It's like one year, it's let's go see who can catch the bigger deer. Next couple years, do you wanna go somewhere alone??? We have to get out of range so Edward won't hear us...... What's that about??? Kinda like a pedaphile, only he likes them when they're older too......

well think of it as a life long best friend, generally (in fiction) childhood best friends end up dating/falling in love as they get older because they know eachohter so well, been through hard times ect. It's a comfort kind of thing. Oh, that reminds me of The Pact by Jodi Picoult (very good book, of course). Though the whole plot of that book is a little more demented, it's basically the same thing. Two kids grow up with each other, do everything together, basically are the bestest buds in the world, and they end up falling in love. Well, I really didn't have a problem with the imprinting on kids thing myself. Especially when I heard Jacob's description of it (in Eclipse, I think) when he was saying it's like the earth is no longer what's holding you here, they are. And when he was talking about how they'll be whatever their imprintee needs them to be. It all sounds very romantic and whatnot, but it isn't necessarily. I think everyone assuming Renesmee and Jacob are immediately going to get together when they get old enough is kind of jumping the gun. Who's to say Renesmee won't date other people? If she wants to date someone else, Jacob will be the best of friends and support her in that. She's his whole world and no one wants their whole world to be unhappy. She has whatever amount of freedom she wants. Not to mention, I think a lot of people assume Jacob is spending his time thinking about what's going to happen when Renesmee grows up and that's just not true. First of all, if Edward caught even a stray thought like that, Jacob would lose his head. And secondly, Jacob just wants Renesmee to be happy, he wants to be there for her and care for her. And having pedophilic thoughts about her is not really in her best interest. (If you want to see real pedophilic thoughts, try reading Lolita by Vladamir N. That is a true pedopile. ) If any of this seems jumbled, that would be because it's three in the morning as I'm writing this and I should have gone to bed hours ago. ;D
