L. J. Smith (or Lisa Smith) was around in the 1990s but has made a revival (yay!) with the advent of 'Twilight'. Her series 'Nightworld' was fantastic -- I read them over and over again as a teenager and still enjoy them today! They're full of vampires, werewolves, witches and Forbidden Love (oh my!); just the sort of thing to cheer you up on a dull afternoon. She also wrote loads of books for the 'Point Horror' collection. I'm currently reading her 'Forbidden Game' series that a friend has loaned me, and it's fantastic!

I love the Night World Series... But does anyone know when the final book is coming out? I heard that she is still writing it, and should be finished by Christmas...but I don't know.

Apparantly it's going to be 1200 pages (that's like... the entire series put together, hehehe) so she's taking her time writing it. She definitely IS writing it though -- it'd be silly not to considering they've re-released Night World AND they're making the Vampire Diaries into a television series

i dont know how i feel about it turning into a television series... I really liked the books, but I think i'd rather it be a movie then a tv hit.

So the tv series isn't so bad...but I am upset with who they got to play Elena...I know they aren't going to stick to the books completely, but couldnt they have at least had her be a blonde?

I don't know why it bothers me so much, but i just want to dye elena's hair blonde. lol I have not read this series yet. It is actually the book for the month of August for the club. But It would bother me a little if the characters in the t.v. series did not match the description of the characters in the book. I am sure that the t.v. series will have so many adaptations already that they should at least make sure that the characters stay true to the descriptions in the books.
