I'm the opposite. I prefer having noise. But I grew up having two brother annoy me while I was trying to read, so my tolerance level for that is really high. I've listened to poscasts while reading books before and not had a problem with it. Ugh lucky you... Maybe if I had your ability I wouldn't get in so much trouble for whacking my sister when I'm trying to read.... *sigh* I hit my brothers all the time when they interrupt me and my mom says to them, "You should know better" or "don't cry to me".

One of my worst reading habbits according to my husband is that if I'm reading a book that i'm really into I can block out everything, tv, phone, radio, his family, and him. ha ha.

oh wow. I have no trouble with my sister cause she never reads. I think that she got a different gene than me cause she hates to read.

My younger brother can't get enough of books. Lol. We read the same things too. If I say a book is good, he'll read it. He especially loves Patty Briggs and such =]

I would love if my sister was that way because I could have long discussions about books and have her not look away in disgust. -sighs- Life has been cruel to me in that way

Reading habits?
Well first it involves me choosing a book and then...oh, not what you meant? LOL
No really the first part for me is I HAVE to actually choose a book. LOL right now I have 143 sitting on my ToBeRead shelf at the moment. (if you have been reading/posting in the how big is your BTR pile thread you will notice this number has climbed from a measly 35 LOL my list has also grown, but we won't get into that.)
Some of them I refuse to start because I found out they are part of a series and they are book 2,3,or 4 in that series. When I finally get my hands on the beginning of the the series I'll start those.
Some I are part of a series, but I just lost interest for some reason in the series. Or maybe its a psychological thing and I just don't want it to be the end of the series yet...nah, I'm going with I just lost interest for some reason. ;D
ANYWAY...after I finally choose a book, just about nothing stops me from reading it. I will read while cooking, while kids are watching t.v., my husband playing video games, sitting at the bus stop waiting for the kids to get off, at a red light (as long as I'm not the first car....ok so sometimes even when I AM the first car.)
When I know its going to be a relaxing day just for reading (try having a lot of those with 3 rambunctious kids lol) I like to grab a pitcher of sweet iced tea, a 5 lb bag of Mike and Ikes, and some chocolate and then lounge on my bed or on my favorite lounge chair thingy in the living room. If its winter I will sit/lounge on the couch that is in front of the wood burning stove and will have hot coco instead of sweet iced tea.
There are times when I won't read at all too. Usually its because the book, or series that I was reading just left me with such a complete feeling that I didn't want to disrupt it by picking up another book and end up finding that book lacking. I have done it before, I thought a book was so great and nothing could be better, and then picked up another book just to judge it too harshly because I was still on the "high" from my last book. Then picked up the same book a few months later and wondered why I had judged it so harshly before.
The longest I remember going is 3 months. Its a long time to not read a book.
Well, those are my reading habits...sorry if I was a bit long winded.
